My husband was employed with Target when they first opened in Alaska. The managers would request that he go clock off and then continue working, and if he didn't do this they threatened to terminate him, for up to half an hour. Also, the managers would lock the employees inside the building at eleven P.M. and anyone who had to clock off after that was to track down a manager while off clock and request that they unlock the door. Some nights finding a manager was difficult and other it wasn't, but getting the manager to unlock the door took up to an hour on occasion.
My question is, under Alaska state law, isn't that illegal and can we go forward with a case for the unpaid time?
Thank you for your help. It really is appreciated.
