I'm not sure if I am posting in the right section, but I'm not sure exactly where this one fits. I just got a letter in the mail today saying that I was one of 800,000 people to have my identity and personal information in jeoprady because some laptops from the GAP hiring office were stolen. These computers contained information from all of the people who applied to work in gap stores between june and july of 2007. There did offer me a free credit fraud detection service for a year, but I am enraged that this has happened. Some could have already stolen my identiy, gotten a credit card and charged tens of thousands of dollars in my name. Now my credit rating plumets and I am responsible for all of this debt. I am currently in college and am not quite sure what I can or should do. Is there any legal action that I can take against this? If so, where should I go?
