I don't know what category of law this question falls under, so I put it here.
October 2007 I was thrown off my horse and received a concussion. The paramedics called a helicopter to transport me to the hospital "because it was rush hour and would take too long to drive there". I told the paramedics that I didn't want/need a helicopter and they transported me anyway. I never signed anything agreeing to pay for this ride before or after the transport. The helicopter company wants me to pay the remaining $10k that insurance didn't pay (insurance has a max of $1k on ambulatory transport).
I don't feel that I should be responsible for this bill because I never wanted the service and never agreed to pay for it.
This happened in Las Vegas, NV, Clark County.
What are my options to fight this bill? What type of legal speciality would this fall under if I need to get an attorney?
Thanks for any assistance.
