Hi,

I went to see the doctor for the first time 4 months ago when I found out I was pregnant. By that time my COBRA had not kicked in yet. I asked them to charge me in a week as my COBRA would start by then, I was told at the office that I have to pay the full amount and that I would get reimbursed by my insurance company afterwards. Once my COBRA started, I sent the bill to the insurance company. Apparently, some of the codes ( for each test etc) were not updated and my insurance company refused to pay me for that lab tests and asked me to contact my doctor. When I called my doctor, I was told that there is nothnig they could and that I needed to call the lab that they sent my results to.( I never went to the lab myself, and paid the full amount to my doctor not to the lab. And the bill that I had was from my doctor not the lab). I had to call the lab and the insurance company back anf forth som any times but finally after almost a month I got the right codes and gave it to my insurance company. After I confirmed with the insurance company that they sent the cheque to my doctor (which was not full amount of course), I called my doctor and was told it will probably take another month for me to get paid because of their accountoing sytstems. Today finally after a month, I call again and was told that they will pay me even less than my insurance paid because they do not reimburse the lab treatments but only their exam!!! I was shocked one moretime!! They do not only not pay me the full maount but also the amount that the insurance company pays!! I am going after $470 for 4 months and my doctor is apparently not willing to cooperate with me. I am not sure what my right are in this case but I feel like they think we are all stupid. I would really appreciate if you could tell me what the best thnig to do is.

It has been another 2 weeks and no phone call from my doctor. i called my insurance company one more time and was told that they have to pay me the whole amount. They advised to write a complaint letter about my provider to the insurance company. Since many of you checked this post but none of you has replied , I assume you do not really see a strong case here. I just can not believe it is this easy in this great country to rib off a patient... I will fight till the end.
