Does a store have to give you an item for what it rings up?

I bought a bathroom faucet from Home Depot which was on a clearance rack. When I got to the register it rang up for a penny and the manager on duty changed it to a price she thought was right for it . Can she just change the price like that?

In a few states, Michigan is one that had a law at one time where the tag on the price had to be honored (this was shortly after bar codes were introduced), so I'm not sure today.

I don't know about TN and your laws.

If that had happened to me,and I disagreed, I'd have NOT completed the purchase and walked out of the store.

Consumers still have control. I suppose you could write to Home Depot's corporate office. I bet they apologize and send you a gift card or the product.

That's a better solution than dealing with the crooked legal system.

Did you really believe it was only a penny - honest error to me.
