Forwarded US Postal Money Orders to a Advertising Saint Bernard Breeder, located in Sheridan, Indiana in the amount of $1500 in 9/2008.

Never received puppy, over the last year and half the breeder has only returned $600 back to us, in two installments via Paypal.

What legal recourse do we have against this breeder, they continue to breed and advertise puppies? Is small claims court our only option, or can we involve the authorities. I find it hard to believe that we are the sole party that has been taken advantage of. If we can prove multiple cases, the attorney general would get involved.

Thank you...

US Postal Money Orders are limited to $1,000.

Putting that aside, however, you can sue for the balance owed in small claims court.

You can also contact the local authorities and report this problem.

They might say it is a civil matter.

You can also contact the US Postal Inspectors and make a report.

They love to pursue creeps such as this deadbeat, particularly since it was their money order(s) used!

Thank you!

Can we include our travel expense, lost wages, interest (1 1/2 years worth) in small claims court suit, since we have to travel from New York State to Indiana to appear?

My appoligies... we issued three US Postal Money Order - $500 ea.

You can ask for them, but you usually won't get all of that.

You might get interest, but that won't be $20 on this small amount.

Travel expenses, no way.

That's what makes small claims not as attractive as people believe it to be.

An easier way is to sue them on a tv judge show.

They'll pay your expenses to New York, Chicago, or somewhere, and you get your money right away.

Unlike small claims, where all you get is a judgment.

Then you have to track the deadbeat down to get paid!
