I was arrested on Tuesday, 4/24/2013 for domestic violence. My partner was screaming at me, I slapped him, he got on top of me and held me down with his body so I bit him to get him off of me. Since I didn't have any signs of harm on my body from him, I was arrested. I bailed myself out and now I have no clue what to do or expect. My partner wants to have the charges dropped. How do we do this? I have a court date on Tuesday 5/7/2013. I'm scared and confused. I have never been arrested before or been reported for having a violent or angry personality. Other people are telling me my partner can write a letter to the D.A. or show up in court with me on the 7th and other people are telling me not to him attend court with me. I have also been told that I wont have a public defender until after my 1st court date. What should I expect when I get to court? What do I do? What do we do? Thanks for listening.

Your first appearance is an arraignment where you are formally told the charges against you.
If you can not afford your own attorney then this will be when the court will appoint one for you. Once you meet with your attorney you will find out how to proceed.
Until then just keep quiet and show up when you are supposed to.

I read your post and wished I was good enoguh to write it
