Trump campaign senior adviser Corey Lewandowski told Newsmax on Tuesday the public does not trust the White House to be truthful regarding the numerous drone sightings because "the Biden administration has a history of lying to us."

For the last several weeks, dozens of reports have circulated regarding drone sightings in several eastern states. Many have operated near critical infrastructure and even military bases. Both state and federal elected officials have voiced concerns and pleaded with the government to inform the public as to the nature of the unmanned aerial vehicles.

On Monday, President-elect Donald Trump told reporters he had decided to cancel a planned trip to his golf course in Bedminster New Jersey, after a helicopter had chased away a drone on Sunday morning. "They're very close to Bedminster," Trump said during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Monday. "I think I won't spend the weekend in Bedminster. I decided to cancel my trip."

Lewandowski said there is real "concern that we don't really know what is going on with these drones."

"We don't understand why the government doesn't want to be forthright. I don't believe what the government is saying — that these are just pleasure craft that are being flown. That's very, very surprising to us. And this government, specifically, the Biden administration, has a history of lying to us, particularly as it related to the spy balloons, which we know have flown over this country on multiple occasions. They refuse to tell us what was going on," he said during an appearance on "National Report."

Lewandowski added that not even the White House's national security communications adviser, John Kirby, has been forthcoming about the drones. "So, look, the American people, law enforcement officials are concerned, U.S. senators are concerned. There is a briefing today on Capitol Hill about it. The government should come out and tell us what's really going on, because it's their obligation to inform the American people," he added.
