Double Small Claims lawsuit filing in WA state.

So someone filed two lawsuits against me in WA small claims court last week. Both for the maximum of $5000. One was for a supposed loan that I never signed for or agreed too, another is for gifts and cleaning expenses that I was already released from when he/she (and myself) signed an agreement with the former landlord. It is spelled out clearly in the release agreement that all parties agreed too. This is more of a personal vendetta than anything else.

My question is really simple: Here in WA state, the max is $5000 that anyone can sue for in small claims. Can I be sued twice by the same person for the same amount in the same court district on the same day with two differing case numbers?

Thanks

You can certainly be sued a million times, because the government makes money off of filing and service fees.

You, then have an affirmative defense you assert before the court.
That defense would be as you discussed in your original post, splitting a $9,00 claim into two $4,500 claims.

You defend on that basis, and the judge will toss the case.
