So about 10 weeks ago now I was caught shoplifting from a Wal-Mart. I got banned from going there or Store name and an officer came and took my liscense to make sure I didn't have any other warrants out. They said that I should be getting a letter in the mail with a court date on it in 6-8 weeks then I was allowed to leave the back room.
It's been 10 weeks now, and I called the courthouse clerk because that's what I assumed would be the best bet to get more information. They didn't have anything on me at all, but they told me to call a district judge office for the region that the crime was committed in. I called them and gave them my name as well. Again, they said that there was nothing at all under my name.
I've been regretting and suffering for this for the last 10 weeks, and I'd love to believe that they dropped the case without notifying me, but I wanted to ask someone else before I just accepted what appears to be amazingly good luck. So my question is pretty much this: Is it possible the case was dropped altogether, and they just failed to notify me? Is there someone else I should call to make sure that this is the case or can I finally relax?
Thanks a lot for your help.
