Drowning in debt

I have been married for about 16 months. My husband thinks I was unfaithful throughout our marriage, which is not true. Anyway he wants a divorce. We do not own a house, car, or have any money saved up but what we do have is debt. We owe about $6000.00 in credit card debt. Before this all happened he was taking care of most of the bills. We both work but he makes almost 3 times as much as me. I am suppose to start law school in August and will not be working. He wants to split the debt 50/50 but I cannot afford to even pay half of that before school starts. Do I have any options? Is there a way for him to take more than half of the debt? If I hire an attorney can he be made to pay my legal fees?
