I was recently informed that a user of a personal site was using a picture of me on his profile. He was advertising that he was looking for either sex or cybersex/camsex. I reported the profile, indicating that the person on the picture profile is not the one who created the profile. After many weeks of reporting, it was not removed. I also emailed the webmaster directly, indicating that the user had been responding to messages I had been sending him, requesting to take it down, quite aggressively. I didn't get any response. The user continued to ask me for naked pictures as others had been asking for them. You could imagine, I had grown quite frustrated, it seemed he was getting quite a kick out of it. Finally, I reported the profile yet again, this time indicating that if it was not removed that I would pursue legal action. It was finally removed, only to be reposted under a different name a week later. Further reports to the webmaster are not being acknowledged. Where can I go from here?

Continue to put pressure on the webmaster until the issue is resolved. The problem with posting pictures on personal websites is that anyone has access to it but you are the one (the profile creator) stuck with the I agree to the rules of the website clause. If the webmaster does not take it down, then you should hire an internet attorney to write a cease and desist letter for you. Hope this helps!

Here's one better - if the website owner refuses to take them down, send him a demand letter and notify him that you're going to be informing his hosting company of the illegal actions which undoubtedly violate the terms of use with his host. He'll take it down in a hurry, I guarantee you. If he doesn't, then just do it and make sure to provide:

1) A statement you are the person in the photo and are the owner of the image

2) Identify where the image is (provide a URL) and make it easy to identify exactly what you are talking about

3) Provide information as to the demand for a takedown and correspondences

4) Demand that the host have it taken down and that the host should enforce their own terms of use (see if you can read it.)

5) Provide your contact information and affirm that the above is true.

Good Luck.
