my 18 yr old dtr was caught shoplifting 3 pairs of earrings yesterday. Has to appear in court this week. DO I need a lawyer, and how should she plead. Should I go with her or let her go on her own?

Yes, you should go to offer moral support.
She should plead not guilty, give no statements, and request a lawyer (or you hire one for her).
The lawyer will explain diversionary programs and other options.
A conviction on this will haunt her forever.
She should discuss alternatives with her lawyer.
