Elderly power of attorney

My great grandfather has recently been admited to the hospital. Now the person who admited him had made allegations that my grandfather (his son) is negligent. The commonwealth of massachusetts has taken over all medical decisions for my grandfather wit a power of attorney. His son has recently been barred from visiting his own father and making medical decisons. The power of attorney is just milking ALL the assets of my great grandfather. What can his son do to appeal this whole situation. How can one person making a false report of negligence cause so much trouble and hardship?
