I feel as though my workplace is harassing me. I recently provide a obituary to them regarding the passing of my father. I was called in today about them not believing the obituary and that they stated that they called the funeral home and church about my father funeral services. Are they allowed to do that even after I provide an obituary? Are there any laws or privacy laws regarding this? I know there are privacy policies at the funeral homes.

Please accept my condolences upon the passing of your father.
You gave them information that was obtained from a site (or sites) made available to the public, OP.
They then chose to contact the funeral home, most likely as an act of human kindness and compassion to send flowers or a plant.
Most companies and employers often do kind things to let their employees know how much they appreciate and love them.
At any rate, I suspect something is amiss or out of whack.
Maybe the newspaper messed up the information about your dad?
Maybe the HR person gave the wrong information, who knows.
But, now they suspect you may have lied to them in order to get the extra bereavement days off of work.

If you did that, OP, it'll haunt you because they'll probably terminate your employment for falsifying company records or some such rule violation.

If it was all a mistake, all you need to do is get the information corrected, furnish them the correct information, and all is well.
We all make mistakes.

However, if that isn't possible, get ready for the storm.

What you posted about isn't anywhere near harassment, its kindness and maybe a little deceit or a few mistakes.

Yes. Hard as it may be for you to believe (and I am not being sarcastic even a little bit) there are no laws anywhere in the US with regards to bereavement time or how employers must handle it. Every employer is allowed to manage bereavement as they see fit. If they don't want to accept an obituary as proof, they don't have to. There are no laws, privacy or otherwise, mandating how they behave or limiting what they can do. I may not approve of their actions but they were legal.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

There is no law against what your employer did & this would not be considered harassment. I'm sorry for your loss.
