Encyclopeda Debt Collection

I was divorced in 1990. The decree states that my ex-wife is ordered to assume and hold me harmless from obligations owing to creditor Britannica Encyclopedia. 19 years later, I'm receiving calls and letters from Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, about collecting this debt. I finally got feed up, so I contacted them today and at the being of their phone message it says that the phone conversation may be recorded for training purposes, so I thought I'd do the same. So I told them the call I was making was being recorded and that I was going to give them information to collect their debt. I was hung up on once, and then put on hold for 35 minutes with a promise to call back. I got the call back with an agent quickly saying if this conversation is being recorded we cannot continue and hung up before I could get one word in.
Without paying her debt, how can I get them to stop calling or sending mail to my home?

Send them a written letter stating that the debt is not a valid debt and that they should cease collecitons at once. If you don't put your objections in writing, they will continue to call you.
