I lived with my boyfriend for six and one half years and have left him. I left with nothing more than one change of clothes and am going to get my belongings as soon as I can get help to do so. I would like to know if I'm entitled to all the things I purchased for the home? I'm still paying on most of it and feel that I have the right to it all. He will still have the house, all the furniture, most of the cars and a 27' travel trailer that I paid half for. He has already stated that he will not let me have all of it. What are my rights?

I would approach him with a WRITTEN deal. The things you brought into the relationship are yours, just go take them. (Technically you still live their until your things are removed.) Tell him the things you want, and the things he can keep (like the travel trailer). See if you can get him to agree to any of it. Take what he will agree to. As soon as you get the things he agrees to out of the house, tell him if he does not agree to your other demands you are going to sue him for the things or the value of the things that are yours in small claims court.

If you are still currently paying for them, the judge will give them to you. Possibly the threat of suing him will make him take the things you are offering and call it a day. The key is to do this in increments. Take what is yours, take what he will give you, then threaten to sue for the rest.

Good luck.
