a few weeks ago i was issued a multiple violation ticket by the LAPD. today after looking at the ticket in detail, i noticed the following 3 mistakes on the ticket:
1. minor: i was given a violation for no insurance. my insurance was actually up to date however since i was on a business trip, i hadn't yet received the new paper showing it. fine, i know, the officer can issue a ticket based on the paper, which i can then correct by showing the court proper proof. the error however lay in the fact that he marked it as a non-correctable violation, which is wrong, it is entirely correctable.
2. more major: he listed my license plate as MI - Michigan, when in fact it is MN - Minnesota.
3. major: here's the doozy, i used to live in california 12 years ago and at one time had a california DL. however, it's been expired for years and I currently hold a DL from Minnesota. i gave the officer my valid MN DL and yet on the ticket, he wrote my old, expired CA DL as the DL #. no where is there mention of my MN license, which he actually was holding.
also, if this does invalidate the ticket, can I do this via trial by declaration or do i need to actually go in fron tof the judge?
thanks much.
