Errors on NC ticket...enough to dismiss?

I was recently pulled over on I-77S by a state trooper for 86 in a 65. He was very nice and suggested that I go to court, ask for a reduction, and then take a driving class so that it will be like I never recieved the ticket as far as points are concerned.
First question: Is that accurate?
After looking at the ticket later, I noticed that there are errors in two locations. First, for sex, he wrote in F, whereas I am a male. Second, my license plate contains a date and a couple letters, in the following type format: #/##/#AA. He wrote it down as ####AA. My sex is correct on my license and my plates are correct on my registration, both of which were presented to him.
Second question: Would that be enough to get the ticket dismissed, and if so, on what grounds would I argue that point?
Thanks in advance.

Probably not. Unless the court is close by, hire an attorney. An over 15 ticket in NC means a suspension of your license.
