Just got word the esteem retail theft database is ceasing all reporting. This is due to a law suit under fair credit reporting laws. Other databases are ceasing as well. Employers are losing this tool to weed out undesirables

I concur too many companies rely on these databases. As I hear more I will post it. Working on my daughters slate so won't be here as Mich while my laptop is being repaired with
 
Problem lies in facts that people who have not been convicted of theft are being labeled thieves by these databases. Even if label is correct without a conviction they are not thieves. As stated earlier I am sure they will find a way around this so databases can continue
 
Update databases are still not operating at present. They are waiting for results of law suit. In addition the legal teams are looking into how they can continue without possible legal actions. The big issue here is putting a "thief" label on persons who have not yet been convicted in court or even charged criminally.
 
UPdate: Some if not all databases are running. They are avoiding issues within law suit by not calling the event a theft but a policy violation.
