My jurisdiction is: Texas
We moved into this house 3 months ago. They required double the deposit of the rent which is $2000/mo. We moved in paid $2000 which is half the deposit and have paid rent of $2000. It is due on the first but the property manager assigned to us said just get it in since I get paid the 1st Friday of every month be it the 1st or the 10th. Now they are wanting to evict us for the remaining $2000 deposit and late fee's from the previous months that the 1st Friday didnt fall on the 1st of the month. You would think that with the current housing market they would be happy to have someone paying the rent every month .vs having the house sit empty over an eviction for the other half of the deposit and late fees. Can I fight this since I was just laid off monday morning or am I done for?
