I have a family who was renting my house for the past 8 months are agreement was a oral lease agreement to pay rent for $1300 dollars that includedlight and water. A few months ago the family and I agreed again verbally that would begin to pay rent and utilities separately.
The family stopped paying rent, light and water in January and informed me that they were looking for a place to live.They told me that they had no intentions on paying me the rent in January or utilities for the month of January or Feburary while they were looking for another place to live, they said they would let me know when they were gone by phone call. They have been officially evicted by an eviction officer.The light bill and water is under my name and I want to turn them off allowing them to turn it back on if they wish under there name.
Is there any legal way to do this? The eviction officer explained to me that I did this I could risk being taken to court by them, saying that rent included light and water.
Please I need advice I am not working and I dont know what to do.
