Eviction?

I have lived for 2.5years in a department owned by the hospital I am training at. With less than 24h notice they called us claiming there is an eviction order and that the whole building needed to be evacuated and to have everything ready by noon the next day when the movers would be coming in. No written notifications, no previous notifications. The new apartment they offered us was in an unacceptable condition so they promised us a bigger apartment in another area. Now 10 days have passed and the apartment is not even ready I have to stay somewhere else. Do you think this is something worth proceeding legally? What would the right steps for this be?

If they are saying the building needs to be evacuated so quickly, it could be that there is something seriously wrong inside and they have no choice. Have you thought to ask WHY you all have to be moved?

You also failed to mention what state this was in. Since tenancy laws and such vary by state, this is important.

Also, who pays for your apartment? You? The hospital?
