I was seeing someone for several months and I ended up loaning him quite a bit of money, in addition to purchasing a tv and xbox for him with my cc. EVERYTHING was a loan, since he was down and out and I was trying to help him til he could get back on his feet.
Long story short, he ended up seeing someone else behind my back, moving to Philadelphia with the new girl and still owes me on everything! I don't have his address and I want to take him to court. I have receipts and bank account transactions from my account to his, as well as him stating he will pay me back for the tv and loans. Do I have a case?

Until you said you have his statement that he would "pay you back for the tv" I would have said you have nothing. What "statement" do you have? In writing?

Still, even if you had a NOTE from him your case is very weak. Buying a TV and XBOX for someone isn't "getting them on their feet." The other cash transactions aren't necessarily loans unless he admits it. So your problems in order of importance are:

1. Even if you win, does he have anything to take?
2. Can you prove anything was a loan?
3. Can you find him because you need an address to sue or at least to collect?
4. Is this really worth your time or are you just really hurt that he used you and is gone?

My gut feeling tells me to chalk this up to experience. Don't buy a dead beat anything. Good luck.

You would never be able to prove they were not gifts.
If you want to pursue it, try to get something in writing from him that acknowledged his debt to you.
Otherwise, learn your lesson and move on.

Really, since you were making the purchases on a credit card, you probably shouldn't have been getting them anyway. Plastic money got you in trouble here.
