My exhusband and I divorced in 2012. In 2010, we did a joint tax return. He incorrectly filed and also found out my boss didnt withhold my tax. Later in the year of 2011, the IRS sent us a $13k bill for back taxes and penalties. At this time, we were happily married and he paid this fine. In 2011, we jointly filed again. We received another IRS letter saying he incorrectly filed leaving out my w-2 information/as well as my boss didn't withhold my taxes. We received a bill of $6,000. This is being in plans to be paid in installments by me, but he is upset his 2013tax returns Will be taken and harassing me to write a certified letter to him that all tax fines are my responsibility. Ex husband is suing me for the 13k from 2010, as well as $6,000 from 2011. What will happen to me in court? He says he's going to make me pay for the 13k he paid, but all those fines were due to him incorrectly filing. 2010, my back tax was only $3,000. What should I do? Should I seek a lawyer?
