ex verbally harassing over internet

I have an exboyfriend that has been calling me vulgar names and insulting me over the internet. He has even said that if he finds out where I work he will notify all the parents that I am a dumb sl*t so that they remove their children from my school. I have asked him numerous times to stop but he continues. I have our message history saved is there anything I can do about this situation to make him stop?

For me, that threat puts him over the edge as it is a threat. I would contact the police. I think the best thing would be if you could get an officer to call him and tell him to stop. That should scare him enough. Then if he continues, have him charged. But, the safest thing, again, is probably just to have an officer contact him about the messages and scare him away.
