My husband's ex-wife bought their son a car on his 18th birthday. When we went to apply for a mortgage loan a month later we saw that my husband's credit was ran three times that day by the car dealership. What can be done to her and the car dealership, lender, etc.

Can you clarify the problem?

I don't know exactly what you are talking about.

There could be any number of reasons why they ran his credit. That, by itself, doesn't indicate any malfeasance by the wife. It certainly does not mean the car was purchased in your husband's name. Has he asked the ex-wife, the son, or the car dealership about it, yet? Perhaps before he assumes the worst he should ask and attempt to clarify the situation.

Perhaps you can consider reporting the dealership for a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
