Hello,
I was on a year lease and my rent went up so I let my lease expire and my next months rent would now be month to month. I found a new place with a couple of weeks to spare, gave notice and was told that I would be charged with the following months rent. Landlords said that I would lose my deposit to pay for the next months rent. I didn't care and moved out. So, I came home to my new place and they mailed a letter charging me with the remainder of the rent. I don't have it. When I last talked to one of the managers over the phone I asked if we were all square and she said yes. So, I know it is my fault for not giving a 30 day notice but, I struggle to make it now and don't have it. Do I have any options? Can they sue for the remainder of the rent? Or am I doomed?
