I have an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on a weapons charge in another state. The court date was greater than 7 years ago. I recently got a traffic ticket and was made aware of the warrant. What are the chances I will be extradited to that state.

If they did not arrest you when you got the ticket, the chances of extradition are slim.

However, existance of the warrant can prevent access to good jobs and to government assistance (student and housing loans, SSI, welfare, etc.).

And the renewal of your driver's license.

That must be a state by state thing. Out here a warrant won't generally prevent your license renewal (unless it is suspended as a result of an FTA or conviction), but it WILL signal the CA DOJ that the person has popped up! :)
