Traveling Michigan expressway the state police had a motorist pulled over. Behind that police officer was a second police vehicle. what I didn't realize is they were playing a game of leap frog. I was chased, pulled over and ticketed by the second police vehicles officer. The defense of ignorance of the law is jumping around in my mind. However their is a small defense I have in mind. I did not move over because once I realized I needed to get over I was already on top of the pulled over vehicles. Because I was already on top of them I was afraid to take my eye off the situation. I also did see that their was not an officer standing on the edge of the roadway. What I would like to do when I go in to court over this ticket on 11/12/13 is pay the fine but ask to delete the points from the ticket from my license. My question is this in the realm of possibility? I have also heard from 2 other people that were ticketed in the same county that didn't get more than a split second to speak and were denied their defense argument. They received their cost of the fines and the points remained on their licenses

Sometimes attending a traffic school will keep points off your license, but some offenses don't qualify. You will have to check if a traffic school will help you with this. Otherwise an attorney may be able to help negotiate a better result.

The law with this typically requires one of two things.... either move over OR slow down. If you can't do the one, there is no reason why you can't do the other.

Did the second vehicle, the one that stopped you, have it's emergency lights on as you approached? If not, was it obstructing the lights of the first vehicle?

I would talk to a traffic law attorney - he/she might be your best bet in getting the best outcome possible. The attorney will go over your options with you.

I would still consider talking to an attorney & be sure to tell your attorney that.

The second vehicle did not have its lights on and it did block some of the view of the 1st patrol vehicle.

You propose to PROVE your assertion, right?

With what EVIDENCE, other than your recollection of events, do you propose PROVING your allegation?
