I was at a party when police officers showed up. I was under the influence of alcohol. The officer asked me what my name was and I gave him the wrong name. When I was asked again I told him my real name and handed him my drivers license. I did not have any fake identification on me. My ticket was for underage consumption and false impersonation. Is the false impersonation worth fighting and what should I expect for punishment if not? My bail was $75 that same night.

If the elements of your state's law - for which you were cited - indicates that "false impersonation" includes simply verbally identifying yourself as someone you are not, then you really have no grounds upon which to fight that.

But, if you want to fight the whole thing you can speak with an attorney and see fi there is some procedural angle to pursue ... expect to pay close to $1,500 if you do.
