The laboratory gave me a false positive and I had to go to jail I have a brain tumor and I I'm pregnant I ask for them to retest and they said no I even was willing to pay for it myself what should I do

Speak to a lawyer. Without a lawyer, (possibly even with a lawyer), there's NOTHING you can do; but take whatever they dish out!

Something is missing here.

False positives don't just appear by magic. If there is a positive, they recheck it. If it comes back positive again, they'll look at whatever you're taking and run a gas chromatography to identify the substance.

So what really happened? Why were you being tested to begin with ?

You definitely need a lawyer but as Proserpina asked why did you have to take a drug test?

I'm more concerned actually that meds taken for the brain tumor may cause a false positive for illicit substances.

But yeah - there's more to this.

If the story is true, I feel for the poster's plight: brain tumor, pregnant, incarcerated, failing a drug test, criminal law problems, and an issue with illicit substances.

That's not a full plate, that's a full table.

I'm extremely concerned here.

When there is a record of substance abuse, many labs won't even bother (per instructions) to run the "confirm" test.

I've gone through this...about a month or so actually. By the time the results got to my primary, he (understandable) went with horses, not zebras. I begged him to run a confirm and a gas chrom. The sample though was no good, it being about 72 hours old at the time.

I'm still sore. At least three of the drugs I'm on can result in false positives for amphetamine and/or barbiturates. My word counted for exactly...nothing.
