I'm currently in a federal program called Americorps NCCC and started on Jan. 29th of 2008. I graduate the program on Nov. 13th 2008. My campus is in Maryland. I'm currently getting charged with retail theft in Wausau, Wisconsin-that happened in March of 2008. The thing is, I WASN'T EVEN THERE. I was actually in Florida during that time. The court date was on 9/18/08, and of course I couldn't go because I'm in my program with 7 weeks left!!! I believe there is or will be a warrent out for me, and I would like some advice as in what to do! It couldn't have possibly been me, and I have all of the proof, as well as witnesses, and the fact that I'm in this program RIGHT NOW! I want to get this settled before I come back to visit my family from helping people around the country. It's ridiculous and I want it resolved as soon as possible! I don't have money for an attorney. PLEASE HELP!! THANK YOU!!!!

Does your family reside in Wisconsin?

For whatever reason, you should never skip out on a court appearance. By not showing up, you put up zero defense, so the court has no choice but to believe everything the prosecutor has presented is true. Even though you didn't do it, it really pisses off judges when you don't show up(hope I'm clear on this).
