Hello, can someone tell me my options concerning this case against me in NY state concerning making a false report to the police concerning a motor vehicle. I have a copy of the accusatory instrument, and am hoping that an error in said document would be grounds for a dismissal. I was told by the arresting officer that I could get a lawyer and they could possibly have this dismissed since this is the only trouble I have ever gotten into, but short of trying to pay a lawyer money I dont have, what else can I do to not have a record for this misdemeanor, oh yeah, this little incident cost me my job at the plant at which I was a probationary employee. I was forced to admit that the story was untrue, this was even after I said to the officer that I did not want to talk with him anymore and that I thought I needed to talk with a lawyer. This officer continued to show up at my home after 10pm each night because he had more questions, of course I told him that this was very inappropriate, but he replied he would be there until he had the truth and of course threatned to arrest me all the time, so he would awaken me to go over the story repeatedly, even after I told him that I had to work at 6am, any help you could give me would be great, thanks

From your post, I am not seeing any details which you can use to suppress your statements or dismiss the charge without a plea. Once you are advised of your Miranda rights, you should have stopped talking and consulted a lawyer. I know you mentioned your financial situation……….But you can't do much without a lawyer looking at all the evidence and reports. You best shot would be to plead not guilty and try getting a public defender. Hopefully, you would get a nice one who would not just be eager to cut a deal really fast……….There are still some good ones out there.
