Okay, I need some serious advice. I am going to speak to a lawyer but I can't wait I'll Monday, please help!!

4 years ago I went to AR with a friend for a mini summer trip, we stayed with my family.
My friend was turning 17, I was already 18. Anyway he tried to steal a (men's) t-shirt for himself while we were together.
Got caught as we were still in the store.

An officer took me to get booked while I guess my friend stayed at the mall.
I was told I was guilty because I was the adult. But my friend would have to go to juvenile Court.

Well after booking me an officer dropped me back off to my car where I collected my "friend" and left.

They were going to mail in the court dates.
I was really upset and terrified. After a few more days we left. I was scared I didn't want to go to jail,
The cop said they had proof I was stealing and we could see it when I went to court. But my friend said no that someone "snitched", and he pointed to anther women who had entered the room.

I don't know weather or my their was a tape or someone who saw but
Regardless I was scared so I just left and never came back.

So now I have a warrant for a failure to appear to court for a theft under $500, for a $30 Tshirt.

I took the terrible advice from my friends to stay that it would be fine as long as I didn't go back to arkansas..

Well I went to my dad and he said stay away from Arkansas. Just live my life as it didn't Happen. So that's what I did. I worked, went to college for dental assisting- graduated- applied to my RDA and the boards requested proof that my case had been closed.

Well it hasn't been closed. I'm going to spare you the story of everything in between the and now except I have a daughter who is almost 1 year of age.
I can't get a good career with this warrant over my head.

I don't want to go to jail or anything.

I have never been in trouble in Arkansas other than that.

I may no be able to hire a lawyer, and public defenders aren't he best but I guess they are the next best thing..

Please tell me what is more probable to happen.

At the moment all the jails I'm AR are closed because they are too full according to the 10pm news.

First of all, public defenders are lawyers, and none of them are wanted for crimes.
If they're practicing law, they have no criminal convictions (or warrants) that bar them from maintaining their license.
Yet, you come to an online board seeking FREE advice from strangers.
My point, be grateful that the taxpayers provide legal assistance for people that find themselves in trouble.

I suggest you do three, very easy things.

ONE: Shut up blabbing all over the internet, and God knows where else about this. You have a right to remain silent, and professional law breakers know to speak ONLY to their lawyers about any allegations against them.

TWO: Call a couple bail binding agencies in the county that holds the warrant and ask what the bond is for your charge. That way, you can arrange bond before you get booked.

THREE: You don't NEED to wait until Monday to find a lawyer. Many criminal defense lawyers will meet with you at times convenient for you, meaning after 5:00PM and on Saturdays. Get busy finding a couple, and meet with them ASAP. Some will even speak to you over the telephone, or do web chats.

This is something you definitely need to get taken care of or it will be hanging over your head the rest of your life.

You aren't looking at jail time, except maybe a brief booking on the warrant similar to last time.
You are looking at fines. An attorney can help you through this to minimize the damage.
It sounds like it has been a few years at least. Others involved may not be reachable to testify against you. After the warrant is taken care of it is very possible the whole thing could be dismissed.
