My father passed away earlier this year. He had a will that stated my sister and myself as executors. Items six and seven of the will state we also inherit his investments.

Now there are two trust funds, each one setup by different two great aunts of the family. They are living trusts, I believe, where they are passed down through the family. My father has been getting statements of these trusts sent to him from SunTrust for years. Upon his death we asked my grandmother (his mom) about it and she said that she never passed it onto him. I had advice about this and it was said since she is still alive my sister and myself have no right to the trust fund. I am fine with this answer but I am just not sure how or why my father was getting these statements, banks do not just send statements to anyone. He was supposedly getting payouts from the trust because he was taking care of his mother(my grandmother) until his passing.

I'm sorry your dad passed. I pray that he will rest in eternal peace.

Perhaps your dad was acting as a guardian or trustee over the account for him mom? Maybe his mom gave him a power if attorney to oversee the account.

Does any answer really matter at a time like this? May your family get some comfort over your dad's recent passing.
