My father passed away 1 and 1/2 ago. His handwriting was difficult to interpret, so they put his entire estate into my step mothers hands to disperse. To this date my sisters and I haven't recieved anything. We know his life insurance policy was sizeable, but we aren't sure if there are any actions we can take. We do know that it was meant to be broken down percentage wise as 20, 20, 20, 40. We are really seeking information on what our next step should be.

I was mistaken when I mentioned a will, he had no will, it was his benificiary form that was difficult to read.

Very little at this point without your own lawyer.
Even with a lawyer, your chances to recover anything are almost nil.
His wife was your father's legal next of kin anyway.
It would be safe to say that she's consumed the WHOLE pie by now!

If nobody could read your fathers will, you would never be able to prove what his intentions were and what you might have been entitled to.
