federal employee male hair requirements

I work for the Transportation Security Administration. New uniform requirements are now coming out. Women are allowed to have long hair provided they keep it up and it doesn't exceed 2 inches below the collar. The requirement for men is their hair must not exceed 2 inches below their collar and the can not use any fasteners to keep it up. We have male officers who have long hair and will now need to cut it or face the possibility of being fired. This sounds like gender discrimination to us. We need advice please.
 
Sorry, but multiple courts have ruled that differing dress codes for men and women is NOT illegal gender discrimination.
 
Here is some food for thought for the poster: The first thing a dress code policy should consider is the environment. Secondly, a dress code policy should be clear about what is appropriate and what is not. A good rule of thumb is to specify "dos" and "don'ts." So, the TSA is being specific on what is appropriate and the answer to your question is simple: no, you don't have a case here.
