Felon-Arrested for Robbery-Jailed since 6/16-No Trial?

Was this person already on parole or probation?
Does this person have legal counsel?
Has this person (most likely) waived the right to a speedy trial?
Have there been other hearings over the past year which this person had agreed to continue?

Good question. I read it as June 2016. If it is June 16 of this year that is nothing- perfectly normal. There probably still has been an appearance and time waiver.

A person arrested or indicted for allegedly committing a felony(ies) can be held for as long as it takes for the trial to be completed.
If the jury issues a hung verdict, the person's pre-trial confinement can be extended.
Some felonies that a person is alleged to have committed can result in a pre-trial confinement without bail.
Yes, even if a person has the money to pay a large bail, he/she can still be confined.
Take OJ Simpson, for example, he was confined for 18 months until he was acquitted at trial.
He could have made bail, but his crime was what the law in CA calls "special circumstances".
The answer is, if the person can't make bail, or the court has said "remand without bail", he/she can be held in a jail until the legal matter has been fully addressed.
Not sure. But, before the arrest(June 9, 2016), he had been out of prison for approximately two years. He has a public defender.

He was likely on parole. I'd expect his parole was revoked and he is held in custody on his original sentence while the new charge works it's way through the system.
