i had some guns taken from me yesterday by the police because they said they "think" i have a felony on my record for a false pretense charge, but they are not sure. they said they have to investigate. the charge was to my understanding nothing more than a misdemeanor charge. the charge was answered and taken care of back in 1997, someone let me use their charge account for something but i never paid them back for it. i had 15,000 dollars worth of guns taken from me and i am worried i may not get them back. what should i or can i do?

I am sure they gave you a receiupt for your property.

You can contact the Chief of that department on Monday.
The Chhief will explain how and when you can get your property returned.
I'm sure he/she will also explain why it may not be returned to you.

If you can't wait until Monday, contact the agency through their administrative number.
Ask to speak with the "officer in charge".
Or, go to the agency and ask to speak with the "officer in charge".
You could then inquire of the "officer in charge' as to when and how the property will be returned.

Now, be advised, this isn't the time to threaten or bully the police.
They don't respond kindly to that.
This is the time to be polite, courteous, and calm.

If you are still worried about those "damn guns", hire a lawyer, spend $2,000, and get the same answer I've given you.
The lawyer will also do one mor ething, perhaps, file a motion and request a hearing on the property that was seized.

If you're correct about the status of your criminal record, you'll get your property back, ONE DAY!
It won't be soon!
If, on the other hand, you're incorrect; you may be facing weapons possession charges.

Either way, you might want to speak with a lawyer, anyway.
The police are careful about seizing personal property on a whim, or to be mean!
they know something that you might NOT know!
