I recently got engaged. My fiance has informed me that she had a car repossessed about two years ago. The car was purchased in Washington. She still has a diliquent amount owed on the car. She says that she has not been contacted about the dilinquent amount in a little over a year. It still shows on her credit report tho. My questions is, first, how should we handle this? If we do nothing about it, seeing that they don't seem concerned about collecting it, what will happen? Will her bad credit and dilinquent debt, my credit is exceptional, hurt mine once we are married? Will this hurt us in terms of purchasing a home?
I'm not to hott on the idea of making payments on a car I never owned and that we currently do not have in our possession. I understand that by marrying her i get both the good and the bad, but i simply want to know how this will affect me and how I should handle it.
Thank you for your help.
