We did a remodel job and an addition on our home & had a dispute with our contractor over various issues regarding total cost of job and shoddy workmanship on our drywall. The contractor filed a lien against us and took us to court on failure to pay. We felt we had a contract but the judge ruled against us. We have since paid the judgement but we feel that the issue of the shoddy workmanship wasn't argued well enough in court. We are wondering if we could file a small claim against the contractor for the drywall job? What is the time frame to file & can we argue this case ourselves?
