When my husband divorced me, I was left with a $20,000 credit card debt. I was determined to pay it off, rather than settle it for less than I owed, and I have paid off $15,000 over the last 2 years. I am ready to pay off the remainder of the debt, but would like to get the best outcome to help my credit rating. I reviewed Consumer Guide to Good Credit and sent a letter to the collection agency requesting:

1. a full accounting of the of the principal, interest, and payments, as well as any other fees or costs, since the collection agency took over the account from Bank of America.

2. The collection agency agrees to completely delete this tradeline information from my Experian, TransUnion and Equifax credit reports. Furthermore, any references to late payment, charge-off/paid charge-off, collection account/paid collection account or settlement will be deleted from my Experian, TransUnion and Equifax credit reports.

I have gotten a response from the collection agency which only provided the accounting of payments, but no response on #2. Is my request reasonable or legal?

Thank you.
