I attend Universitity of Phoenix. I have been there sine Jan. 2007 and I have the same problem twice. I was awarded a full scholarship so all financial aid money comes to me. I was suppossedly overawarded, but they cauught the mistake soon and I sent the check back. Then, about two months before I was due to graduate I was informed by the school that I had been overawarded agiang by $7,000.00. The school can not explain exactly how this has happened, but they told me it was not my fault. I completed all of my paperwork on time as I was asked. But, the school failed to look at my scholarship paperwork, so I was awarded money without them taking my scholarship amount into consideration. So I am actually done with school now, but I can not get my diploma. The school will not release my transript so that I can go to grad school and and I can not get my diploma which means I can not get a better job. I don't feel like thier mistake should hold up my life. I would like not to be responsible for the money because the mistake was not my fault. If I had failed to dur my part I would feel responsible. I think if it is found I am responsible the school should work with me because it was not my fault. They should release my diploma and transcript and let me make payments. I turned in all of my paperwork and trusted the school to make the right decision. Also, I have found this is a somewhat common mistake at this school. It happened to me twice in less than 18 months and my financial aid counselor, who is also a student, is also a victim and she is paying back the school now. I think the school should be responsible. Please help!!
