Hi, I have been married for 6 years and I filed for divorce. I had a child from a previous relationship, and I would like to know if I can ask for family support? Thanks.

You can ask for it, but it is highly unlikely that it will be awarded. Your state laws, as well as other factors in your situation, will determine whether or not you will receive it.

The father of your child should provide child support. The stepfather has no legal responsibility to do so.

you need to file for child support from the bio dad. Step-dad has no obligation to support a child that is not his.
