Hi, I was hired Aug 28 as sales & marketing assistant. during the interview they expressed their need for someone who could think outside the box, be innovative and creative, possess website design experience, and support the IT department with software platform integration - in addition to daily admin tasks.

Well, I exceeded their expectations and was terminated on 12/5 because I brought too much to the table. They said it wasn't personal, they just needed someone at ground level and I did too much. When I asked about the interview and how they thought I was the right fit, the president expressed that it was her fault for making the decision to hire me at no fault of my own. There was nothing negative during my 30 day and 90 day reviews regarding my performance or capabilities.

Do I have recourse to sue because I was hired under false pretense?

Short answer: No. They could have fired you because they didn't like the color of your socks that day. Perfectly legal.

You can sue anyone for any perceived slight, wrong, or tort.
The better question is how likely are you to prevail?

You appear to be a good person, doing great work, and in this country you can be terminated for no reason at all.
You can be fired and simply told, "get out, you're fired!"
Yes, you can be fired and not given a reason for your termination.

There a few reasons you can't be fired, a few protected classes, and discrimination is outlawed.
Even if you were a disabled military veteran; practicing the Jewish religion, had a medical order to have an emotional support monkey; blind with a seeing eye monkey; a female undergoing gender reassignment surgery; pregnant, of African-American, Chinese, Inuit, and Cuban descent; stood 2'4" tall, weighed 378 pounds; diagnosed with ADDHD; a recovering crack addict; a recovering alcoholic; employee of the month for the past 84 months; and possessed an IQ of 45: your employment could be terminated because the boss wanted to hire his wife's first cousin into your job!

I wish you well.
With your obvious skills, can do attitude, and get it done approach; you'll land a better job with more pay where they appreciate an employee of your caliber!
