fired for a owi

ok here we go i was out at a resterant had a couple of beers and was driving home at 12 at night i had to be to work the next morning and got pulled over i blew a .09 and they booked me and sent me home i didnt get much sleep so i called into work to take the day off i did not have a attendance issue. A week later the owi came out in the paper and said i was picked up on the day that i was suppose to be working when my bosses saw it they pulled me into the office and fired me my job does not require me to have a license can they fire me for something i did on my own time?
