Fired Temp

Hi, I wanted some advice on whether I have a strong case that can be easily won, or not. I was working as a temp for a particular company and they ended my assignment on the grounds that I was doing things that were not possible because of the nature of the company. Therefore I have proof that I can present that these things were not possible. For example, they said that I was using the internet when the internet is blocked throughout the company. Do you think that I should proceed with my case?

Thanks

Not based on what you have posted.

A wrongful term does not mean you were fired for something you didn't do. It means you were termed for a reason prohibited by law.

Unless you had a bona fide contract that guaranteed work for a specific period with no possible exceptions, or specifically said that the assignment could only be ended for specific reasons, they were free to end your assignment at any time they wanted for any reason they wanted.

The company called the temp agency and terminated my assignment based on FALSE ALLEGATIONS. . . 3 of them, one of which I can PROVE is false! I was accused of surfing the internet. That is IMPOSSIBLE since temps DO NOT HAVE INTERNET ACCESS on their system. It is BLOCKED under our computer sign in code. Are you telling me that I don't have a case with this?

CBG SAYS: they were free to end your assignment at any time they wanted for any reason they wanted.

Even if they do so based on FALSE accusations? That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Doesn't matter whether it makes sense. There is no law that prohibits them from ending your assignment based on false accusations. Since the law doesn't say they can't, they can.

Now how BACKWARD is that? And to think we have the nerve to refer to other countries as 'third world'? Seems America's legal system is of THIRD WORLD status. It's ridiculous that a woman could spill hot coffee on herself because of her own CLUMSINESS and have a legitimate case, yet when someone is FALSELY accused and fired in the workplace and can PROVE the accusations are false, the law doesn't work in their favor. Ha! What a JOKE of a judicial system!

There was far more to the McDonald's coffee case than that. But you're yelling at the wrong person. I don't make the laws and I don't vote on their passage. I'm not the one responsible for the fact that you don't get to sue your employer. Don't shoot the messenger, please.

Easy Righthand unfortunately CBG is correct. Most employees do not realize how fragile their jobs are,and how little rights they have. That said you can file for unemployment unless the temp firm has given you work already.
