I have been let go from my job on Oct 10th. They have offered a severance package. However, I want to know if I have a case to sue instead of signing of package.

They have lied about me to corporate, the HR director and associate have validated my concerns of being undermined by one of my employees, the asst controller and controller, the company is participating in illegal practice, i.e. doctoring my reconciliation to corporate and not participating in escheatment-federal or state.

Should I sign and ignore my concerns or do I not sign it and contact a lawyer to start a suit?

I guess it comes down to money or reputation.

Sign the paper. If you refuse they will no longer offer the severance which they are not obligated to do. If you sue under what grounds? Wrongful termination? This does meet wrongful termination criteria

Jacksgal, in other words, I ignore what this firing does to my resume, even though I have a case--all documented. I do have great references and I have refused to sign my initials to the illegal documents, so I am not tied to the illegal practices.

Question--what if I am questioned as to why I did not contact authorities in regards to this practices? Am I held responsible?

We are volunteers here and not a 24/7 on call service. We cant make your decision for you! Here are you roptions

. Take severence and move on
. Refuse severence get nothing and hope you have a case and you win.

The second offers no promise of money nor a promise you will win. Not to mention it will take sometime a year or more if it goes to trial. Let also not forget any legal fees you mightincur in this pursuit.

Jacksgal, can I contact the authorities, anonomously, about these practices?

What authorities for what reason? This does nothing to your resume. Its job another job. If you resign you can give almost any reason. Like limited growth. Your doing whata lot do seeking revenge its pointless and time consuming. Your time is better spent looking for new work
