I live in a new home development where the builders contracted with a property management service to run the home owners association. I, along with my neighbors, were told that once the development was a certain percentage complete, the home owners could elect their own officers to run the home owners association, no longer relying on the property management company. Home owners in my neighborhood have tried to do this but have been told by the management company that we cannot do this, and that the builders were mistaken when they told us they could. We are concerned at the amount of home owners dues we pay each month, and exactly where that money is going. Attempts to get this information from the management company have been unsuccessful. How do we fire them and set up our own home owners association. None of the neighbors have a written contract with the management company - this was something set up by the builders.
